Wednesday 12 January 2011 Congrats to Jeremy Johnson and Twiggy Baker, who have been invited to compete in the Quiksilver La Vaca Gigante (Big Wave Contest) in Spain. The event, with a 10,000 Euro purse, is held at the most dangerous and powerful reef breaks of the Cantabrian Sea, which they call "La Vaca" ("The Cow"). A total of 16 surfers are invited to compete.

On Saturday, the Western Province Bodyboarding Association (WPBA) hosted the first of their development clinics for the 2010/2011 season. Nineteen excited children from Kleinberg Primary School in Ocean View were picked up and taken to Long Beach, Kommetjie to try out some body boarding moves.

The Red Bull Nightshift went into overdrive and the man who conceptualised it Jordy Smith, as well as Travis Logie and Royden Bryson, tripped the light fantastic.
