Tues 26 Oct 2010 Mentawais Islands: The skipper, clients and crew of the Southern Cross, an Australian surf charter boat that has been missing since yesterday after a tsunami hit this surf-rich Indonesian island chain, have been reported safe and sound.

Tuesday 26 October 2010 Long Beach, the spot everyone loves to hate. Recently there has been a lot of venomous rhetoric under our Kommetjie cam as to the use of Long Beach for one too many contests, greedy longboarders hogging sets, infestation of boogers, wanna-be pro boys with egos bigger than Ju-Ju Malema snaking sets off everyone. Sadly this doesn’t paint a good picture of a lovely wave that breaks very consistently and has nurtured many of us onto the heavier sand bars around the peninsula. Fact is, Long Beach has always been crowed, it has always been used for contests and it will always attract a vast cross section of surfing traffic. Sunday 24 October 2010 PUNTA HERMOSA, Peru: Team South Africa captain Greg Emslie posted the highest scores of Day 4 of the Billabong ISA World Surfing Games as he charged through two rounds of Repecharge heats at Caballeros in Peru yesterday. With 31 nations represented at what is dubbed the ‘United Nations of surfing’, there were a number of fairy-tale stories and surfers from the likes of Israel, Sweden, Venezuela, Great Britain, Tahiti, Chile, Switzerland, Uruguay, Germany, Puerto Rico and Canada are still keeping their dreams alive.
