Wednesday 15 December 2010 The Billabong Pipe Masters in Memory of Andy Irons, the final stop on the Vans Triple Crown (an ASP Specialty Series), roared back to life today with Pipeline delivering clean four-to-six foot (2 metre) Backdoor barrels for one of the most electrifying days of competition this year.

Wednesday 14 December 2010 Those in the know, or those with a sense of adventure, can find waves anywhere and pretty much surf everyday, if time allowed. The Cape Peninsula has so many combinations, up, down and around its coastline, that when they come together, certain spots can produce memorable sessions when everywhere else is just plain flat. Marcel Habets stumbled upon such a session recently in the Boland. Warm water, low tide, offshore and just a few dudes in the line up. Nice!

Wednesday 15 December 2010 The South wind or cross-shore means different things to different people. To some, the surf looks like a waste of time, time better spent doing stuff that isn’t related to surfing... to others it means the perfect wind to hold your board against your feet when boosting board bending airs. Brendon Gibbens, Matt Bromley and friends were making the most of it in freezing conditions recently. Alan Robb of Leaping Louse Productions was on hand to freeze the moments lost in space.

Monday 13 December 2010 Still suffering from post-sandblast trauma on Sunday, Spike took a few shots on his phone from the rocks overlooking a cranking 3-4' wave somewhere near Cape Town. It was the first surf in many a day, and what a relief to experience a wave for a change after days of flat windblasted seas. Even the lizzards seemed stoked.

Monday 13 December 2010 Check all the pics from the Wavescape surf film night on the beach. It was a glorious evening, well, it would have been had there not been a ripping southeaster around the peninsula. Despite a few gusts, about 2,500 people enjoyed Lino, I surf bercause ... Andy Irons, part 2 of Chasing the Swell, and Scratching the Surface with Julian Wilson.
