Club surfing in South Africa is on the rise and the West Coast Board riders surfing club is the perfect example of that. WCB was created with the intention to develop and grow surfing as a sport and bring the community together thru various surfing and social Events. They have run a series of very successful surf contests, with an amazing level off surfing and attracting big names to come and surf. This gives the local guys an opportunity to surf against a seasoned professional and lift his or her own surfing ability. Plus it’s a lot of fun to surf against your friends. It’s important to understand the value of community, and the love for surfing is the strongest bond.

The surfing action was red hot all day with some great performances and a very high level of surfing, including a perfect 10 point ride by Ryan Payne and a total heat score of 17.00 by Mikhael Thompson that earned him the blowing up award. The judging is also some of the best on offer thanks to the efforts of co-founder and ASP judge Ettiene Buys, thanks to his head judging the kids learn valuable lessons regarding scoring and surfing to the criteria, the results are always fare and spot on keeping everybody happy.
