Sun 21 April 2013 Surfing the Internet takes new meaning. See the video that Jordy Smith won the 2013 Real Surf X-Games for surfing with, and an interview about the surfing tournament where eight of the best competed against each other via video clip.
Jordy's video - a 90 second mini movie shot in SA, Mozambique and Durban - was voted the best and that includes King Kelly. Smith took out Hawaiian surfer Albee Layer, followed by Aussie Josh Kerr before eliminating Brazilian wunderkind Gabriel Medina in the final.
Jordy scooped UA$50 000 (about R460,000) for the win, and has made it to the final two of the Fan Favourite award, where people vote for the clip online. This could win him another $10,000 (R90,000).
