The Tand That Bites
Tuesday 30 May 2017 The 7th Digicape Tand Invitational presented by Zion was held up the West Coast yesterday near the small hamlet of Tietiesbaai. Lee-Anne CURTIS-COX was there for Wavescape.

A solid and clean groundswell met some of the top bodyboarders in South Africa who trekked up the coast to get themselves some barrels, and a range of prizes. It was a classic Weskus day. Warm and clear, with glassy seas and solid barrelling surf on the rocky slab they called Tand, the wave with teeth.
The who's who of SA bodyboarding where there, with some big names with experience in the big leagues, such as Tristan Roberts, Andre Botha and Mark McCarthy. But it was the hard charging Matthew "Mafoos" Lombard who took down the final in crisp ledging waves. MC for the day was Deon Meyer and the Shaggy Award went to Tristan Roberts.
