Imagine what that might be like for a child from an impoverished community who has never left Cape Town, but gets to experience the natural beauty and wildlife on the breathtaking Garden Route, and to meet their international surfing heroes at a world class event in Jeffreys Bay?
Our Annual J-Bay trip has been taking place since 2014, although the last time we were able to make the journey was in 2018. On the first trip, one of the boys from 7de Laan Informal Settlement stood in the Kombi for the entire eight-hour journey, wide-eyed and totally enthralled. He could not believe how big the world was beyond the confines of his community.
It's these sorts of chills down the spine moments that make us proud to be human, and more than anything, proud to be able to assist when we can. The 2022 tour takes place from 8 to 17 July to coincide with the World Surf League event, the Corona Open JBay, allowing learners the opportunity to interact with the world’s best surfers and the international surfing community; and also to explore the wonders of the Garden Route and to visit places like the Birds of Eden, Wolf Sanctuary, Puzzle Park, Addo Elephant park and so on.
For many it will be the first time they leave the Cape Flats, let alone Cape Town! As such, we look forward to making this Tour as special as possible for them. The cost per person is ZAR 2500 (US$160) and a flyer and proposal with more information are attached.
