The Monster Mash
Thursday 4 November 2010 Sunday the 31st of October is world famous as Halloween, a time where little gouls and goblins hold their neighborhoods to random with the words: Trick or Treat. This year was no different, Durbanville was served to an assortment of tricks by the wolf pack on their BMX’s and as a treat, the Monster girls came out to play. Thankfully, the spirits were appeased and no ones house got T-Peed.
Gum Trails in Durbanville is so much a part of the Cape Town BMX culture that one almost can't picture the scene without the place, the set up this year was Ridicules again.

This year was just sooo Hot, and the action was furious as riders from across the country gathered to jam the day away under clear sunny skies, Speaking to some of the riders they said that it was unpredictable and that a strong mind was a big asset alongside a bag full off tricks, and tricks you had to have otherwise you needn't bothered, because it was thrown down and nothing was left on the line.
When the dust settled Greg Illingworth emerged as the winner with some insane 3's, flips and whips at ridiculous heights, the guy is truly world class.
Second was local rider David Rigby and he also produced the goods when it mattered, but what stood out form him was that he completed the line tricking all the jumps on a couple of occasions, something the other guys found hard to match.
Stuart Loudon from Durbs came in 3rd and took a bit of time to get going, but once he did it was all good.

The Dirt Quarter comp was really good as well and again Greg simply threw it down with some sickly high airs, just pressing the accelerator to the max.
Jason Hood took best trick for doing a flip transfer.
Special thanks must be made to Old School Productions for putting on such a show and Monster Energy and DC Shoes for sponsoring the event and giving up the R15k prize purse plus so much more. We are really inspired and cannot wait for next year when I am sure it will be even bigger and better, the scene is alive!
Thanks again to Markus Museler from Old school Productions for organizing and planning such an amazing contest and pulling it off with no hiccups, seems like when Markus/OSP is involved the SHOW and Event is of such a high Standard and Quality.Looking forward to OSP next event- ULTIMATE X on 19th Feb 2011 in the V & A Waterfront.
