Switchfoot

Hurley Store at the V & A Waterfront played host to a special acoustic set by San Diego based rock band Switchfoot. Friday evening’s freezing weather was warmed by bodies packed into the venue.  The band members are all surfers and the name Switchfoot comes from the surfing term to change your stance or face the opposite direction. Hurley team manager Josh Sali is showing the guys around Cape Town who have timed their tour with one the biggest swells of the year so far.

Switchfoot’s 2003 album The Beautiful Letdown sold over 2,6 million copies. Their seventh studio album Hello Hurricane received a Grammy Award in 2011 for Best Gospel Rock Album.

They are in Cape Town for their Vice Verses tour at the Grand West Grand Arena. Don’t be surprised if you meet them in a line up somewhere around the Mother City.
