Swell Course is Back
Friday 22 July 2011 Big wave surfer Tony Butt, a top oceanographer from Europe, and medium wave surfer Spike from Wavescape present a special ocean course for surfers and other mariners at the Empire Cafe, Muizenberg on Monday and Tuesday 1-2 August.

Spike, with his experience of forecasting for South African surf events, and Tony Butt, with his first-class academic knowledge coupled with core experience in big surf, have put together a fascinating and graphical journey into the deep ocean, where mighty forces create waves that can travel thousands of miles, holding their power, but improving in quality and shape.
Unique surf forecasting insights give the course a unique perspective that will appeal to all ocean users, especially those who are interested in how waves form and the effect that these waves have on their lives. This includes surfers, sailors, divers, fisheries, marine salvors, harbour authorities, shipping personnel, mariners, and people who like messing about with boats.
Pull into the Empire, where Dave Jones, chef extradoinaire, will rustle up a light supper at the half time break, which will be a gourmet burger and some refreshments. The course starts at 6pm, and ends at 9-ish. Plenty of chance for questions and discussion.
