The invitational tag team surfing event will comprise 65 surfers from organisations in the greater Cape Town area: Waves For Change, 9 Miles Project, Johnsons Surf, Learn 2 Surf, Surfer Kids, Surf Outreach, Surf 4 Life, Choose To Care, Projects Abroad and the Save Foundation.

Teams of five surfers (to a maximum of ten) engage in friendly competition overseen by a group of 10 mentor surfers affiliated to the programs who will be showing their surfing talent in a contest of their own and at the same time showing the younger kids what you can achieve in life.

We asked the brainchild of the event Rory Heard a few questions.

Who is Rory Heard?
I am a 44 year-old Cape Town surfer, adventurer, entrepreneur and part time STSFSA Foundation Director.

Great initiative. How did it come about?
Share the Stoke Foundation South Africa has been gifting FireWire surfboards in South Africa for 3 years now. These boards are used to assist in the development of surfing in South Africa and what has happened is that the kids have all become good little surfers on such great equipment. it made sense to me that we host an event that inspires even more stoke.

There are so many development programmes out there. I guess this is a way of getting them all together?
Yes, and at the same time they get to share the love of surfing and life together.

What is the end goal with these Games?
I would like to expand into other coastal areas of South Africa/Africa and change the world one surfboard at a time.

Who is supporting you guys?
FireWire Surfboards International, FCS, Gorilla, Robin De Kock, SSA, Sports and Recreation, Nixon SA, Reef Wetsuits SA, Wavescape, Zigzag, good friends and family.

Thanks bru!
Always, stoked.
