Six Foot Surf in the Severn River
Tues 2 March 2010 Hundreds of onlookers and members of the media turned up yesterday to watch and record a cranking six foot wave surging up the River Servern in the UK. The Severn Bore, which surges upstream along the river through Gloucestershire, does so a couple of times a month, but March is generally a big month. The wave was the largest of the year. It reached a height of almost seven foot at the peak. A bore is created by the tide from the ocean flowing into a ever-decreasing channel up a river. {youtube}IKA39LQOIck{/youtube}
