It’s been a massive year for South African bodyboarding, which has seen our boys grow and dominate as athletes against the worlds best on bodyboarding’s biggest stage, the IBA World Tour.

Sasha Specker, who started the year by becoming the Pipeline DK Champ continued his domination of the DK division and captured his maiden world title in Playa Paguita, Isla De Margarita, Venezuela in Spetember. The cherry on top for Spex, is that he has also qualified for the IBA Prone tour next year. South Africa now has the honour of having three riders, Spex, Jared Houston and Mark MacCarthy competing on the IBA tour.

Jared Houston has had a huge year that has seen the young man from Tableview projected onto the world stage as a poster boy of the sport of bodyboarding. He grabbed the cover of acclaimed Australian bodyboarding Magazine, Riptide with a monster barrel at Acpocolypse in Indo. He has backed up this honour with solid results in every IBA event he took part in. Jared recently finished 2^nd in the NMD/VS Fronton Pro and has wrapped up the year in overall 5^th place.

Spex and Jerry jetted home from the Canary Islands this week to a hero’s welcome at Cape Town International Airport where they were greeted by fans, groupies, family and friends. Welcome home boys. Enjoy the rest. 2013 is your year.
