CLiP, which is led by the UK Government’s Centre for Environment Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas), will support the Changing Oceans Filmmakers’ Masterclass presented by Wesgro on how to make impactful conservation documentaries, as well as collaborate on the media advocacy arising from various Wavescape events and ocean activities in Cape Town.

The masterclass brings together some of South Africa’s top ocean conservation experts and environmental filmmakers to discuss the challenges they face when they tell stories in an atmosphere of denialism and increasing censure. The Masterclass takes place on the first evening of the two-day CLiP Innovation Conference: STEM the tide of plastic waste in Africa in Cape Town tomorrow Wednesday 4 December and Thursday 5 December.

The conference will announce the winners of the inaugural STOMP (Stamp Out Marine Plastic Pollution) Awards, initiated to discover and encourage innovations to reduce and eliminate marine plastic pollution. The finalists, who have just been announced, will be showcased at the conference.
