Both South Africans on the tour, Jordy Smith and rookie Mathew McGillivray, however, have skipped Round 2 and cruised directly to Round 3 of the Billabong Pipeline Masters presented by Hydro Flask, so you might have a bit of a late night to catch them in action, as if that's something that will hold you back after this Pandemic shitshow.
The CEO of the World Surf League, Erik Logan, who contracted Covid-19 along with several staff members resulting in the suspension of the event, said that a massive amount of work had gone into getting the tour back on track, "part of which included comprehensive Covid-19 protocols to ensure the safety of the local community, surfers and staff".
Logan, who has been in isolation since the contact trace, said he continued to experience mild symptoms.
