Parko Wins Bali
Thursday 27 June 2013 A combination of deep tubes and huge rail to rail carves earned Joel Parkinson $75,000 and the inaugural Oakley Pro Bali title in kiff clean 6' sets.

Parko was up against Tahitian Michel Bourez in the final after grinding out victories against younger opponents. They may have had a big aerial attack but Parko's fast, flowing turns on the rail in the glassy conditions set him apart.
Parko (AUS), 32, reigning ASP World Champion, beat Bourez (PYF), 27, via an impressive come-from-behind effort in four-to-six foot waves at the iconic Balanese righthander of Keramas.
Parkinson was quick to adapt on the changing conditions on the final day of action, besting fellow countrymen Taj Burrow, 35, and Josh Kerr, 29, en route to the final before topping Bourez for the win. The Oakley Pro Bali marks Parkinson’s first ASP WCT victory of the season, vaulting the stylish Australian to third in the rankings and well within striking distance of a repeat ASP World Title.
It was a contest of upsets, with first Jordy Smith succumbing to Freddy Pataccia as early as Round 3, and then Kelly Slater unable to win against CJ Hobgood in Round 5.
While it was unlucky for that Bourez could not scoop his first tour win, it was good news for Parko whose notched one up for the ballies.
The rankings as the crew heads to Fiji for the Billabong Pro Teahuppo in July stands with Mick Fanning in number one spot, followed by Kelly Slater. Parko's win and Jordy's equal 15th place relegated Jordy to fourth, with Parko climbing to third.
