Luge Rider Dies
Tuesday 20 March 2012 The skateboard community is reeling after a longboarder from Johannesburg died after hitting a truck coming up the Franschoek Pass yesterday.
A report in this morning's Cape Times says that Carlos Trancoso, 29, had come from Gauteng especially to luge the pass lying prone on his extra long skateboard.
The report quotes the police as saying that a charge of culpable homicide was being investigated.
The Cape Times said that an ER24 spokesman had said that a friend was following in his car and coming around a sharp bend he saw Trancoso go wide and under a truck coming up the hill. He sustained severed abdomenal and chest injuries and a suspected head injury.
Counselling is being provided for his traumatised friends.
