Twiggy Wins
Sunday 22 December 2013 Grant Twiggy Baker has won the Arnette Punta Galea Challenge in pumping 20 foot surf in the Basque Country, Spain, the first stop on the Xpreshon Big Wave World Tour.
Twiggy took the final with a score of 28.21 over nearest surfer Nic Lamb (24.87), with Ken Skindog Collins third with 23.57 and Adur Letamendia on 14.34.
The win was sealed with a huge outsider that Twiggy scraped into, dropping behind the peak and driving around it to open up a huge wall that he rode with aplomb. He won US$12,000 and gains valuable rating points for the Big Wave World Tour, which is now owned by the ASP.
