Yes, Women's Month is over, but thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, organisers had to move the event one month out, but judging by the froth that's doing the rounds, not even a pandemic can dampen the LaMuse stoke. And that's especially after the event had to be cancelled in 2020.
A fresh NW offshore is expected tomorrow with small 1-2ft lines at the fabled longboarding break for the women to ease into their work. By Sunday morning, a solid open ocean swell will be pounding open coast in light to moderate NW winds, with The Corner looking peachy: 2-3ft and super clean offshore. A light sideshore SW is due to puff in the afternoon, and organisers Charmaine Adams and Cheree Thompson will be mindful of timing.
Either way, these ocean-minded women will no doubt be super keen to showcase their rapid evolution in grace, style and skill. According to Adams and Thompson, LaMuse once again makes South African surfing history, not just as a stand-alone women’s longboarding competition, but also because of a full female judging panel and staff list that showcases diversity and inclusion in what is generally known as a male-dominated working environment.

To muse, according to the dictionary, ‘is to consider something thoughtfully.’
"We have carefully crafted an event that includes women of all ages, backgrounds and surfing abilities, by way of celebrating a shared love of the ocean," said Adams.
"We continuously strive to run the LaMuse Classic as ‘single-use-plastic’ free event. We follow #oceanpledge guidelines by providing recycling bins and a ‘refill’ water station. Contestants are given Ocean Pledge water bottles, and we encourage all to bring their own refillable coffee flasks. It’s a practical way of educating and showing people how easy it is to make a difference to our oceans, by making simple conscious choices," said Thompson.
LaMuse Classic will be raising money for the Code Red Initiative, which aims to address period inequality and help empower women and girls by providing them with reusable sanitary pads made by women within their own communities.
