With proposed development in Kommetjie making the locals nervous, this party has been organised to rasie funds make sure if development happens, it's done right.

Kom local Mike Schlebach tells us more. "We are raising funds for the Kommetjie Ratepayers association in order for them to ensure that these specific set of developments are properly thought out with the towns best interests at heart. There are four new proposed developments, three residential and one commercial. This does not include the developments that have already been approved. While we realise that Kommetjie will grow in size, just like everywhere else, and that we can’t stop this, it’s important for us to ensure adequate planning is given to things like open spaces, wide enough roads, big enough erf’s, tasteful commercialisation, proper and independent environmental assessment, adequate road and sanitary infrastructure etc etc. This type of development in a beautiful surf village like Kommetjie greatly affects all of us, including those people who just come to surf there".
