Jarvi Joins Wavescape

Friday 4 May 2012 Wavescape is pleased to announce the appointment of Craig Jarvis as Editor-at-Large. Jarvi is aguably South Africa's top surfing journalist, and certainly it's most travelled. He will cover surfing events, write blogs and assist in building Wavescape as an indispensable surfing resource.

Jarvi comes with a lot of experience, including editorial positions at Surfers Path Magazine, SurfEurope Magazine, Slide Magazine and editor of Zigzag Magazine, which he held for five years. He contributes to Surfer, Surfing, Tracks, Australian Surfing Life, Australian Surfing World Waves, Stab, Men's Health, Sports Illustrated, Shape, GQ, SaltWater Girl, Huck, and National Geographic Travel, to name a few.

He has a weekly surf column in Die Burger Newspaper, runs media for surf events in South Africa, and owns a social media company - he always has lots to say.

Craig brings editorial input to Wavescape's already-popular newsfeed by being on the ground at local and international surfing events, hooking up with top surfers around the country, and reporting on newsworthy stuff from the surfing world. He will also be the go-to person for Wavescape advertising, and will be involved in online projects.

Spike, who remains at the helm as Editor of Wavescape (which celebrates its 15th birthday next year) said he was stoked to have Jarvi on board to boost Wavescape's profile among the core surfing community: "What I like about Jarvi is that he is passionate about surfing, and committed to the ethos and lifestyle around wave riding. His energy is exhausting, and his outspoken way of telling it like it is legendary. I know that he will assist in consolidating Wavescape as a quality source of surfing news, grow our social networking profile, and in particular boost Wavescape as a forum for debate and comment amongst the coastal community."
