Hell on Earth

Monday 29 August 2011 Even Kirstin Scholtz, Saffa who heads ASP tour photos, had the most terrifying experience on Saturday. Here she tries to describe it in her Postcards but all that does is give away just how heavy it was.

psycho

I had no idea about what fear was until today. This was the most terrifying experience I have ever had. My body was shaking so much i could hardly shoot a photo. My brain couldn't process what my eyes were seeing. It was like watching the whole ocean drop out of the sky and it sounded like a Boeing. It didn't help that our boat driver had brain damage suffered in a heavy wipeout in Teahupo'o a few years ago. He may have been the best driver out there but his fearlessness meant we were the deepest boat in and the last boat over the shoulder as the ocean literally disappeared under the back of us. This is hell on earth ... I was shaken to the core. - Kirstin Scholtz, 2011
