The French, who will most likely put out their strongest team, are in training for the upcoming ISA World Junior Surfing Championship, to be held in California in October.

The friendly surf-off is hosted by South African Surfing Legends in conjunction with Surfing South Africa.

Pat Flanagan, founder of the Legends (whose mission it is to encourage and assist in the development of young South African surfers) encourages people to "come down, meet the Legends and watch what is bound to be an enthralling and exciting contest between France (who placed second behind Hawaii and ahead of Australia in 2014) and SA's finest."

"We seldom see international surfing of this calibre in Durban. Your presence and support will be very welcome."
