What has become a premiere event on the surfing calendar hosts nine divisions hosting more than 150 longboarders, shortboarders and stand up paddlers (SUP) who surf for a R80,000 prize purse, made up of roughly half cash and the other half in branded gear.

The Tiger’s Milk Winter Classic, which is presented by Surfing South Africa (SSA) in association with the World Surf League, includes a WSL Longboard speciality event for Men and Women.

All contestants will receive a unique Tigers Milk Winter Classic t-shirt and a Tigers Milk meal voucher. As this is a WSL and SSA Speciality Event, contestants are not required to join the WSL or the SA Surf Tour. Applicants may only compete in one division, and at least eight entries must be received per division for it to take place. A refund will be issued should the division does not take place.

While the day will show the skills of many of our top ocean riders, it will also support a SSA Outreach initiative, sponsored by Tiger’s Milk. The programme takes place from 9am to 1pm on Sunday, June 11th, and will involve about 60 young surfers from community-based outreach programmes, who get the opportunity to participate in a surfing contest, and enjoy refreshments by the popular restaurant.

The event will be run from inside the Tiger’s Milk restaurant, with its great view over Surfers Corner. From this vantage point, officials and spectators will have the best view of the action. Prizegiving, which includes a long board from African surf brand Mami Wata as well as Mami Wata apparel, will take place on Sunday 11 June in the restaurant, where the category winners will be announced. A festive environment with live music will end off a celebratory weekend.
