Coaching Series

The coaching series, which is presented by the High Performance Surfing Academy, will comprise three events in which 32 surfers are coached on the four pillars of advanced surfing: physical, mental, equipment and surf technique.

Top coaches, such as Bruce Jackson and Jason Ribbink (as well as guest coaches) will provide the tuition for two divisions: U13 and U16 (boys and girls).

The dates for the coaching series events are set for 23/24 January 2016; 27/28 February 2016; and 19/20 March 2016.

To take part, surfers need to be in the right age groups (U13 and U16) and enter their names via email to futurelegends@southafricansurfinglegends.com with a motivation that includes their achievements, and anything else that will possibly attract the attention of the selectors by no later than 11 January 2016. Thereafter there will be a selection process, and successful candidates will be notified by 18 January 2016. ?

This coaching series identifies, develops and nurtures emerging junior surfing talent in South Africa. In accordance with this ideology, the four finalists of each division of the coaching series will be invited to participate in a free two-week HPSA coaching course valued at R12k per participant (to take place in Durban on a date to be determined).

The coaching series will take place at New Pier as well as at Durban Surf Lifesaving Club and will cost R1,000. The two-week HPSA coaching course will be free to the eight surfers selected.
