What is the Isaw A3 Extreme?
The market's most feature-packed action camera to date.
Who's ít for?
Board riders of all types: skiers, bikers, drivers, divers, base jumpers. Basically anyone who spends time outside, and wants to share it.
What's it like using it?
If you've used a GoPro it’s pretty similar. There are two main buttons: one on top for start/stop/record, and one on the front for navigating menus, which display on a LCD screen. Shooting modes include Movie, Still, Timelapse, Burst and Aqua. There are a million options in the menus. There's also a third button for turning Wi-Fi on and off.
What is the best part of the A3?
There are a few. Right up there is image quality. The Isaw A3 Extreme is capable of truly beautiful shots. In daylight and lowlight, it is a head and shoulders above its competitors. Nothing comes close in terms of sharpness.
Built-in LCD. To even think that competitors either don’t offer this functionality or it’s an optional extra is ludicrous. Record, watch and play-back footage in real-time. It also allows for easy navigation of menu options- making this a must-have feature!
Also the 4 X Digital Zoom, the fact that all accessories and mounts are included and it has a battery life of two hours.
Test Notes
The Isaw A3 Extreme has the most mounting options of any action cam. It's hard to imagine an activity you couldn't use it for. That's good for extremely detailed level of control over how your shot looks. But it can make navigating difficult- hence the added advantage of the built-in LCD and smartphone remote app.
You can tilt the Isaw A3 Extreme up and down when surfing, whilst this cannot be done with all action camera brands resulting in them shooting too low on ones surfboard.
The Isaw A3 Extreme comes with a waterproof casing which is waterproof to 60m which is an entry level requirement for surf footage.
Of the all the action cameras we've tested, it is by far the most comfortable to wear, thanks to its lightness and smaller footprint.
You can flip the video if you're mounting the camera upside down.
