Border Ballies Blitz
Monday 30 July 2012 The amazing Border ballies walked away with the national masters title for the sixth consecutive year yesterday, with one of their own Tyrell Johnson scooping the senior division.

As a fun 3-4' swell pulsed along the New Pier in a fresh SW, two members of the Eastern Cape franchise contested the final of the SA Masters Surfing Championships, brothers Tyrell and Jethro Johnson.
Tyrell (Gonubie), the darkhorse of the event, defeated Lyle Bothcer (KZN), Neil Zietsman (WP) and brother Jethro Johnson (Bor) respectively in the closely contested final to clinch his first national surfing title.
Border won the overall team title for the sixth year - an amazing achievement.
The 2012 SA Masters Championships will decide seven individual champions and determine the top Provincial team. Each team member’s points will count towards the Masters Cup, which was won by Southern KZN in 2005 and 2006 and by Border in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.
The 2012 SA Masters Championships will conclude with the seven finals on Sunday. The Award ceremony will take place at New Pier straight after the last final.
