Bloodscan Series Finale

Friday 5 August 2011 Kitchen Windows, Jeffreys Bay will be the final contest venue for the Bloodscan 2011 Surf Series on Sunday 14 August. Eastern Province surfing got a healthy boost in the past season with Bloodscan stepping up as major sponsor behind the EP trials. This final stop in the series promises to be very exciting and will be the last opportunity for junior surfers to qualify for the EP surf team.

The BloodScan Africa Surf Series 2011 is hosted by international nutrition and metabolic benchmarking specialists Bloodscan with the aim of showcasing the benefits of a health and wellness driven lifestyle, and providing young members of the local community with exceptional role models in the world of surfing.

“We had two specific goals in mind when creating the 4 part Surf Series,” says Lewis Khoury of BloodScan, “we wanted to grow the region’s talent through consistent exposure to competitive environments that enabled them to test and validate their skills amongst the best the region had to offer, and we wanted a 4 part series that rewarded consistency and growth rather than a once off great performance. The standard of surfing and the emergence of new faces on the podium indicates we’re succeeding in achieving those goals and it’s fantastic for Eastern Province surfing.”

In line with the vision, Khoury also stated that there will be prizes given in the final event which will include overall series winners in each age group, as well a reward for the most improved surfer throughout the series. With the series coming to a close for 2011, giving the EP team some time to train for the SA Championships, there are already big plans in place for 2012. Some of these include opening up the series on a national level and the addition of a standard photographic package for competition entries. Watch this space, it´s bound to become interesting.
