Beyrick Takes Parko
Friday 21 February 2014 South African Beyrick de Vries pulled off another giant-killing act, taking out Joel Parkinson in Round 3 of the Burton Toyota Pro in Newcastle.

The 22-year-old Durbanite, who you may remember as the guy who scored a perfect 10 tube-ride in big Sunset during the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing at the end of last year (video below), progressed through to Round 4 after defeating Joel Parkinson.
Headlining the Newcastle Surfest are Gold Coast duo Joel Parkinson (Gold Coast, QLD/AUS), 2012 ASP World Champion and reigning Burton Toyota Pro champion and 5 x ASP Women's World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (Gold Coast, QLD/AUS).
The international field of competitors also features Wiggolly Dantas (BRA), Granger Larson (HAW), Dane Reynolds (USA), Marc Lacomare (FRA), Alana Blanchard (HAW), Bianca Buitendag (ZAF) and many more of the top surfers in the world who are looking to get off to an early lead on the 2014 ASP Qualifying Series.
