Monday 30 November 2015 Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious infection often destructing the lungs of its victims. TB is the leading cause of death in South Africa. The TB epidemic is expanding because of drug resistant strains incurable by any of the known medicines. The public needs to be aware of the hazard of this airborne infection. Free diving is an extreme sport relying heavily on the lung capacity of the athlete. In this film Behind the Numbers: Breaking the record, a young doctor and surfer Bart Willems beats TB and during his rehabilitation breaks the South African free diving record during.
