St John Lombard profiles an overcast session at East London’s Nahoon Reef, the place where Shannon Ainslie got tag-teamed by two great whites a few years back. There’s often sharks spotted here, but it doesn’t stop those tough Slumtown locals from paddling out and getting shacked in pristine bombs.

Finding a wave when it's flat in Slaapstad isn’t a mission if you know where to drive. Ian Thurtell waited for the mist to lift and then shot the local crew who capitalised on the fact that the surf reports were calling it flat everywhere.
