Wavescape - Surfing in South Africa

Mon, 26 June 2017

This sick gallery (in the way it makes you feel queasy) of heaving 8' Cave Rock comes from this weekend's quest to find the King of the Rock. Nic Aberdein captured some carnage.

The Cave Rock Invitational started off with a thumping 14 second groundswell on a draining spring tide. To really challenge the guys, the wind freshened radically in the final heats. Overall winner was Andre Botha with Ricky Basnett a close second. The Cave Rock invitational sees standing and lying board riders compete for the barrel king.
