Wavescape - Surfing in South Africa

Sat, 20 January 2018

Here's photo highlights from the opening and free surfing (yesterday) and Day 1 of competition (earlier today) of the ISA World Longboard Championship in China. All SA surfers are still in the game.

Here's a quick wrap of results in clean 2' surf at Riyue Bay on Hainan Island. In the Open Men, Sam Christianson (Durban) made Round 3. Alfonso Peters (Cape Town) made Round 1, but dropped to Repercharge 2 after 4th in Round 2. In the Open Women, Roxy Davis (Cape Town) and Christy Gilmour (Durban) made it through their Round 1 heats, and are still to surf in Round 2. Competition live at www.isaworlds.com from 2am ZA time.
