Wavescape - Surfing in South Africa
Supertrial MikeyFeb-620-th

Fri, 3 June 2016

The opening function of the JBU Supertrial presented by RVCA saw the heat-draw take place, and with 24 of the best surfers in the country, every heat is packed with some serious power.

Two surfers advance out of the first round heats, to meet the two seeded surfers in the quarterfinals. From there it’s straight into semis and a final.

At this early stage in the waiting period there is a little dip in swell activity, and the contest organisers are hoping for some action towards the back end of the waiting period.

The winner of the JBU Supertrial presented by RVCA gets a wildcard into the JBay Open Championship Tour event, and is guaranteed $8,000 prize money (R124,400). Not a bad knock for a day’s surfing, really.
