Umhlanga

Image

The Umhlanga Cam - situated at Umhlanga Rocks just north of Durban - is provided by Vodacom and is perched on top of their cellphone tower there. Although pretty high up, you get a very good idea of sea conditions and what the swell is doing, including size and direction. The camera will refresh every three minutes.

By Popular demand, the refresh button is back. Come on! Press it!

No point having a webcam if it never gets cleaned....typical service from South Africa

Err... Surely if a NE wind can push it off position... the SW will push it too?

Keeping it real since 1985.

It's the SW that pushes it off position. Oh, and how often does the lens/window get cleaned? It's about overdue for it, thanks.

everytime the NE blows gale force, this cam gets shifted out of position :( Maybe it should be moved as T.Brain suggested

Appears to be a piece of rope or mast at bottom left of image since 21 June. Can cam site be investigated so it can be removed and we have a complete image?

and maybe it should point toward bronze since the surf is better there anyways..

you'd never see anything then as it would be straight into the sun

Dont suppose the cam could be set up at a lower point?cant really see what the wave is actually like from that high up...and maybe it should point toward bronze since the surf is better there anyways..

Yeah, and can we have a few more cams along the north coast. Maybe Umdloti, Balito and Salt Rock. The web traffic alone will cover your costs.
