Kommetjie

Image

The daily photograph of Long Beach in Kommetjie is taken some time between 6am and 8am and is normally updated before 9am. The photographer will always wait for a set to give a fair indication of the ambient swell in the ocean. Bear in mind that west to SW swell must refract around the reefs and Long Beach will be considerably smaller than general swell off the southern peninsula coast.

It's the okes that paddle half way across the beach to catch a wave you've been paitently waiting for, while this guy has been scoring waves from where he has just paddled from, that piss me off... It's Long Beach, the peaks come up anywhere... Just wait for yours to come, because it will If you wanna hussle go play rugby or something...

never before would i of imagined that the message board on the Surf report would be turned into a slinging match between between longboarders and shortboarder etc etc. yes they do drop in and yes so do we all, sometimes. of course some more than others. as one Kom charger once said, "respect your fellow waterman, and nothing entitles you to more waves than someone else." not even where you live, where you surf, the size of your board, or the stickers on it. quite simply at a place like long beach, pick a line wait your turn. simple if we all do it. over crowding would not be half as bad as it is.
