Blouberg

Image

Provided by Vodacom, this cam gives a bird's eye view of the world famous Bloubergstrand, looking southwards towards the city of Cape Town. Part of Big Bay, a popular surfing and kiteboarding spot can be seen. Please let us know if the camera lens is dirty and we will get hold of our mates at Vodacom to give it a wipe.

Kommetjie

Image

The daily photograph of Long Beach in Kommetjie is taken some time between 6am and 8am and is normally updated before 9am. The photographer will always wait for a set to give a fair indication of the ambient swell in the ocean. Bear in mind that west to SW swell must refract around the reefs and Long Beach will be considerably smaller than general swell off the southern peninsula coast.

Muizenberg

The Muizenberg webcam is situated above the Empire Cafe overlooking Surfer's Corner and gives you a bird's eye view of what the surf is doing. This webcam is managed and maintained by the good people at the Corner Surf Shop. The cam image is refreshed every four minutes, automatically if you have the page up.

Kitchen Windows

The cam at Deviswijf Restaurant is across from Kitchen Windows. It indicates general swell in the Jeffreys Bay area. The cam is provided by the good people of Midafricam, with tech support and bandwidth by Paul at JBaySurfCam.com. There is a wide angle and a zoomed image refreshed every 10 minutes. Port Elizabeth

Provided by Vodacom, this cam is mounted on the mast that looks out over the beachfront close to the pier. The camera pans to various positions that give a good indication of what the swell is doing, and you can also use it to spy on traffic. Refreshes every three minutes. If you get the traffic, wait until it pans to the beach.

Amanzimtoti

The Amanzimtoti Cam - positioned in this bustling town just south of Durban in Kwa-Zulu Natal - is provided and maintained by Vodacom South Africa. It overlooks Toti beach and lagoon. The railway track can be seen in the bottom part of the image. Refreshes every three minutes.

Durban Beachfront

The Durban beachfront cam is on a timed setting that pans across several beaches from North Beach to New Piew every few seconds. Our script grabs a screenshot at various points as the camera shifts its focus from beach to beach. The camera is provided by Surf Conditions. Image will refresh automatically every few minutes.

Umhlanga

Image

The Umhlanga Cam - situated at Umhlanga Rocks just north of Durban - is provided by Vodacom and is perched on top of their cellphone tower there. Although pretty high up, you get a very good idea of sea conditions and what the swell is doing, including size and direction. The camera will refresh every three minutes.
