Cape Peninsula

Forecast Overview

Image

(Spike, Tuesday 5pm 9 March 2010)

Small swell and strong winds from the S on Wednesday so not many options. Swell jacks a few feet on Thursday up to 5ft in the deep south but winds going from SE early to SSW so get it early on the low at 7h30am. Light W winds all day Friday so looks like false bay on your longboard at 2ft max. Hold on, what this... Saturday... jacking swell up to nearly 13secs and hitting 4m so there's swell around but watch the winds. Hopefully some SE comes through late in the day. Strong SE forecast for Sunday and big seas up to 10ft in the Atlantic. Remember the Argus is on Sunday so traffic will be hellish.

Pedro meu caro!!
Grande abraco....

By the way.. eu conheco um Pedro noronha mas ele mudou a pouco tempo para a Belgia para jogar Rugby..

Ola Amigo, voce quero ondes grande? Nao problemo. Ask the locals near you about a kiff little spot called Dungeons, near Hout Bay. That should be pretty cool. If that is a little hectic, you could try Muizenberg.

Excellent News!!! We surf-locals attending our regular board meetings (be mine of smaller proportion) are being afforded a little extra space in the line-up right now. Our wonderful new friend is called, DFP, or "Dorsal Fin Phobia". Our local spot, which is known as a really cool place, has become jammed in conditions like Sunday. However, yesterday, a small huddle of cooks stayed right in front of the beach, leaving me out on the point with an epic right break all to myself. Only after watching me get spat out of my umpteenth barrel; and realizing the only teeth they could see on that point were my own smiling pearly whites, did a few skittish faces pull into the line-up with me. DFP! Ye surfers compadre.

Yo fletch sorry i missed your call yesterday.. You head off to the beach? Was nursing a killer babalas, regret now not going for a bit of a regmaaker.. Anyway lads good luck finiding some surf this week.. Camps Bay isnt looking too bad if anyone decides to head this way.. Saw some sets coming through this morning!

yeah I have to agree with the likes of Futro, Chris and Spike... Skeghead, you tool. I too am an inner city boy and have for years been looking at sources to give me an idea of the ocean's mood. My ventures initially were rewarded with nothing but rage and disappointment.. Nowadays, thanks to wavescape and the surf report, I never waste half a day and some serious petrol cash driving to the beach. The quality, depth and accuracy of the reports gets better and better each year. And this is a free service provided to any keen surfer FOR WHAT? absolutely nothing! all that is required is a good attitude, and the occasional show of thanks where its deserved. Skeg you tool. The waves have been cranking of late, so much so that i need to buy two new leashes... Indeed Skeghead you are a tool. but shame, we'll give you the benefit of the little doubt there is, maybe its just your keyboard with the *&^#*+*!ty personality...
Thank you Wavescape for keeping me in the know, especially when all i can see out mywindow are not waves but other windows. peace

All this talk about the beaches being closed....! Whats the stress all about? Get with the programme! Summer = False Bay - sharks, howling South Easter onshores, sloppy half foot surf, crowds of wannabees, queues of traffic and no parking! Atlantic - empty beaches, maybe 5-10 guys out, 2-4ft swell almost everyday, light offshores, no traffic or parking hassles. Jeez, this isn't rocket science...??

Skeghead....hmmm well where do i start. First of all with a name like skeghead i can only picture you as the type that drives around all week all year with his board tide so tight on the roof that the rails have actually look like glen darcy was shaping one of his all time funky fishes! Dude you comment on spike kop....my friend hows your melon honestly if you have reservations on spike report do yourself a favour and keep it to yourself. If you have not had waves in the past month you have either been the one on some seriously cheap or possible way over prices drugs....cos let me tell you cuzzy....from sea point to guns just north of the border there have been waves that have created stories in every board meeting throughout the corporate cape tonian world. My honest opinion and i think i speak on behalf of all the folks that have for years entrusted in spikes report.... DO YOURSELF THE JUSTICE BRO BUY A LILO AND GO FLOAT OUT ON A DAM SOME WHERE BECAUSE BROTHER WE DONT NEED "SKEGHEADS" WITH AN ATTITUDE LIKE YOURS IN THE WATER OR ON THE BEACH FOR THAT MATTER.

Message to Spike hey bro your reports have kept the small town boys living in the cities going for years keep up your good prognosis! As for guys like skeghead... well lets just say like your first ever ball hairs the more you pluk there are always going to be more just like the last one and there is no place in the line up for ball hairs or skegheads!

Futronic out!

Skeghead, I have to admit that I find your comments bizarre. Your initial comment was so far off the mark it warranted a reply like you got. It's fine to have your opinion, but rather hold off if it is unsubstantiated. The peninsula report is proven to be accurate, through years of testing and use. Spike was quite right to say you've missed the boat as there has been an abundance of surf around. And those many surfers (myself included) who use the report as a guideline to what the conditions are like, no doubt scored. But feel free to follow your own instincts, even if that means you're still dying for a surf when there have been massive barrels around. Spike has been surf forecasting successfully for years, including the onerous tasks of forecasting for events like the Red Bull Big Wave, The Quiksilver Goodwave and the O'neill Coldwater classic. I don't think these events would seek Spike's advice if he had a "third rate level acceptance of quality, whatever that means.
Basically, I think the message here is chill out. Go surfing, there are probably waves right now. And show some respect where respect is due, and you may even earn some yourself.

Whoa.. seems like a nerve has been "spiked".. Nice of you to share your "personality" Spikey (is that in reference to the last remaining 3 spikey hairstrands on your crocked old toppie head..?) shame, sounds like you have some issues going on.. no worries, you'll be alright. You may choose to base your "assumptions" on what your "sources relay" to you, I prefer to base my statements on personal contextual non-drug-induced observation. Have to say, never heard of, nor been to "Bong Beach...?" What other "secret spots" do you get baked at in Spikey-Neverland? Have to however agree with you on the fact that there has been swell around of late, but it's clear that your definition of a decent wave refers to your own personal 3rd rate level acceptance of quality.. Seems like you are searching for a forum to express your self-appointed inner-clown..If you think you achieve humour, hopefully there are some fellow Bongers at "Bong Beach Neverland" bouncing up&down skratching their armpits and skoffing along with you. Maybe give reality a go. Hope to see you in decent surf soon...peace-out.

brah, is that a skeg in your head, or did your red-rimmed THC dilated orbs struggle to focus on the ambient (general) swell on open coastline in the deep south? My sources tell me deep ocean swell was certainly 4-5' if not 6'. Maybe you were looking at Bong Beach, or some similarly protected refraction? If you are desparate for a surf, then indeed you have missed the boat, cos the last 2 weeks have been cranking. Cashflow, bru, how old is old? Relative to you ballies, i might be a spring chicken, but to the rats that infest many of the spots, i am a crocked old toppie.

Shot Bru for once again being no where close to the mark on the surf report. Deep South soooo far from hoping to be close to 6ft...??? Seems like we are better off following own instincts. Dyin for a decent wave...
