Hundreds of onlookers and members of the media turned up yesterday to watch and record a cranking six foot wave surging up the River Servern in the UK. The Severn Bore, which surges upstream along the river through Gloucestershire, does so a couple of times a month, but March is generally a big month. The wave was the largest of the year. It reached a height of almost seven foot at the peak. A bore is created by the tide from the ocean flowing into a ever-decreasing channel up a river.

Jordy almost pulled off a perfect 10 in a double tube slash re-entry foot flip fest in Heat 6 of Round 2 to cruise through to Round Three. The surf was small, but cooking head-high barrels in clean smooth seas and spotty rain was not to be sniffed at.

Cooking waves at Snapper Rocks greeted competitors on the first day of the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast, until the tsunami alert cancelled the action on Day 2. Many free surfers ignored the tsunami warnings and went surfing after it turned out the waves would not be as destructive as thought.

The trailer for The Cove, award winning doccie that exposes slaughter and greed in Taiji, Japan, where former dolphin trainer Ric O’Barry has come to set things right after a long search for redemption. In the 1960s, it was O’Barry who captured and trained the 5 dolphins who played the title character in the international television sensation “Flipper”.

In a remote, glistening cove, surrounded by barbed wire and “Keep Out” signs, lies a dark reality. It is here, under cover of night, that the fishermen of Taiji, driven by a multi-billion dollar dolphin entertainment industry and an underhanded market for mercury-tainted dolphin meat, engage in an unseen hunt. The nature of what they do is so chilling -- and the consequences are so dangerous to human health -- they will go to great lengths to halt anyone from seeing it.

This video shows the insane private half pipe custom built in the mountains for Shaun White last year, helping him scoop an incredible gold medal at the Winter Olympics at Whistler in British Columbia last night. White reached new heights, literally, after Red Bull built him a half pipe in a remote powdery corner of Colorado where he perfected the Double McTwist 1260 (a mutant trick entailing three half twists while spinning head over heels twice - click here to see him doing it). Jamie O'Brien proved that he's still the man to beat at Pipeline, winning the 2010 Volcom Pipeline Pro in impressive fashion in somewhat inconsistent six-to-eight foot surf. The regular footer who lives within a stone's throw of the legendary North Shore wave, showcased his deep skill set at Backdoor and Pipe in glassy, low tide conditions, leveraging his local knowledge into his third victory at this event and a $16,000 payday.
