An unreal morning with offshore whisper and conditions perfect Friday but the surf not co-operating. A few 2-3' bumps on open coast, and onshores win the day light and manky. Saturday the onshores builds from early. Fresh NE goes strong. Smeared and nasty. Surf flat to 2'. The onshore keeps on keeping on for next 4 days straight. Sunday fresh to strong NE. Nasty. Monday fresh to strong NE. Crap. Tuesday screaming seas see the sound of evil maniacal laughter. Krrrer-ching! Saw X.

Jo ma - if your surf forecasting is anything like your spelling then you miss every swell.
If you don't like wavescapes reports DON'T READ THEM fella. I've used them for the last 5 years and found them to be the most accurate indicators around. All my Mocambique and Transkei trips are based around their 7 day forecast and I've never been let down yet. Chris, well done on your succinct and measured response.

The report you are referring to was written on Wednesday morning. As anyone who checks these charts regularly will know, they moderate constantly and it is almost impossible to make accurate assumptions more than 3 days out, especially during this time of year on the S KZN coast. We generally recommend that if you are trying to get an accurate representation of the conditions, check the report 1 DAY before, when all the models have been updated. You'll notice we never try too hard to guess what's happening more than 3 days out, because those days (e,g this Saturday) will be updated 3 times before the actual date.

Admittedly, the nature of surf reporting is that we as the human interpreters can never get it 100% right. Even the models, and buoy readings are not 100% accurate all the time.

If you notice a discrepancy, feel free to comment below or give a eye-ball report. We always appreciate input (unless it's rude) from our users.

And yes, this weekend is looking good.

John, I am pretty sure I am not the retarded one. The forecast is 8ft at 11 sec from the East, which equates to roughly 3-4ft. The wave height alone can never be an indication of actual size.
