Wavescape - Surfing in South Africa

Melkbos to Agulhas

Tuesday 28 July 2015

Solid 4-6' open coast Tuesday in sunny skies and chevrolet. Clean start as soft SSE breezes push mod S later. Muizies 2-3' light onshore lump. Wednesday cold front brings heavy rain from 8pm. Fresh NW blows early, pumping neargale by arvi. A 6-10ft west groundswell punches with grunt power. Muizies 3' clean early, windbitten offshore later as wind pomps. Thursday solid 15' storm swell in heaving seas and strong SW onshore mess. Wind eases. Stays messy, tho slowly calming down. Friday epic looking sunny, glassy, NW breeze and 6-8' lines ease to 4-6'. Muizies super fun 2-3'. Saturday 4-5' in light SE. Nice. Muizies 2 or 3' light onshore.

People who run one-man businesses seldom get holidays. I hope Spike gets his daily barrels. Meantime any surfer can google StormSurf and read swell heights and periods.

Howzit you tall weak gremlin *&^#*+*!rs. Just dropping in to say that I'm back and I am sorry for not dropping a comment for so long but i was attacked by a killer whale while charging some outside reef bombs at glen on my black mustang (kayak). I lost my massive arm but fortunately I grew it back and I have made a full recovery. I Will be rejoining the WKL (World kayaking league) and reckon i have more chance of winning it with no arms then Jordy choker Smith has of winning the WSL. Maybe Jordy choker Smith would actually place in the top 10 if he stopped injuring his big toe before Pipe Masters or growing a vagina whenever the waves get above 6ft.
Peace out..

Did someone leave a black plastic crate with wetsuits inside at Witsand parking lot yesterday - Sun 15 March?
I picked them up - didn't want to leave them there as the life expectancy would only be a couple of minutes

If it was you, please email me jeremybatglobaldotcodotza

Hi all. The website is awesome, and living in the EU, returning occasionally is always a stoke, the level of surfing is so high, the atmosphere phenomenal.
Our friendliness and genuine hospitality makes us an awesome respite for Europeans wanting to learn to surf and advanced surfers alike- from sun starved European winters. The waves and experience beats our African surf destination competitor hands down We all surf because we love the ocean and the camaraderie that surfing gives us locally and globally. As much as everyone wants uncrowded waves, it is a massive draw card for tourism, and a driver of positive personal development and social inclusion for all as a community. On occasion I read a comment that in my opinion is very intolerant and off base - and I shake my head wondering why. Then the comments back sometimes deteriorate. Is this how we want to portray ourselves to the world. In the water if someone makes a mistake kindly remind them of the surfing rules. I heard of a French man that got assaulted for waveski surfing a crowded peninsula surfspot - hospitalized. A person could be psychologically damaged by such an experience and nobody wants to be at the receiving end of this - imagine saving for and looking forward to a surf trip to beautiful France, and that happens. On the fortunate few times that I surf travel, the hospitality is legendary. Everyone loves it here. Long may it be so! Surfing well and a positive friendly demeanor is aging gracefully and earns respect. On occasion everyone has off days, and let the ocean be a place we can all recharge. We must all try our best to not be the grumpy sunburned wave rider that snaps at people - that is not fun for anyone - but make each others days better by sharing the stoke all round. Paddle and miss the wave, call the next person into it. Share. Trying as many different waves as possible is awesome, and with this mindset localism does not make sense, it can be seen as the person is unhappy that they do not get to try a big enough variety of waves. One day you may be travelling and that may be you excitedly paddling out to an epic break, and a hello in return and sharing at least one good wave is always appreciated the world over. It goes full circle, regardless of ability. When surf coaching I always ask learners to remember the rules, pick up trash, always remember to have fun, appreciate being in paradise with some of the worlds best waves, the most biodiverse marine and terrestrial ecosystems and a rich cultural ecology. The waves are a bonus - Aloha and stay awesome!

If you totally depend on only the information on this site and you blame the editor who does his best to offer us some guidance toward achieving whatever level of stoke that can be had wherever there may be some then please remember - think for yourself, use other sources, know that predicting weather and nature's exact conditions isn't easy, even with instruments, surfing is about being independent to some degree...don't react like a spoilt little kid and pollute this site with boring negative comments that show you to be less than you are. If you surf then take note of this, if you are a surfer you didn't need me to tell you, peace, time for my dawnie, you ed, shot

Winds are fickle creatures who don't listen to predictions. Why update the prediction after the fact? Deal with the IS-ness.
