Wavescape - Surfing in South Africa

Melkbos to Agulhas

Weekend 18 April 2015

Strong SE dwindles Friday dying into a clean calm SE breezes into the night. Surf 1-2' weskus side, but mushy 4ft wind- bumps in False Baai Haai. Saturday dawns loverly in bergish SE to E and 2-3' small wave breaks (at best) open coast. Light SE all day. Small. Muizies fun 2-3' light mush-lumps. Fun for lang baards, kooks, and the rest. Sunday flat pannekoek both coasts with maybe 1' bumps, or 2' being the bomb of the day in glassy seas. Swim. Paddle. Loaf. Mild SW onshore later. Monday slow rise of long range 3-4' sets by evening open coast. Light S goes strong SE in arvi. Tuesday strong SE eases in nice 3-5' west swell. Lekker beachies.

Howzit you tall weak gremlin *&^#*+*!rs. Just dropping in to say that I'm back and I am sorry for not dropping a comment for so long but i was attacked by a killer whale while charging some outside reef bombs at glen on my black mustang (kayak). I lost my massive arm but fortunately I grew it back and I have made a full recovery. I Will be rejoining the WKL (World kayaking league) and reckon i have more chance of winning it with no arms then Jordy choker Smith has of winning the WSL. Maybe Jordy choker Smith would actually place in the top 10 if he stopped injuring his big toe before Pipe Masters or growing a vagina whenever the waves get above 6ft.
Peace out..

Did someone leave a black plastic crate with wetsuits inside at Witsand parking lot yesterday - Sun 15 March?
I picked them up - didn't want to leave them there as the life expectancy would only be a couple of minutes

If it was you, please email me jeremybatglobaldotcodotza

Hi all. The website is awesome, and living in the EU, returning occasionally is always a stoke, the level of surfing is so high, the atmosphere phenomenal.
Our friendliness and genuine hospitality makes us an awesome respite for Europeans wanting to learn to surf and advanced surfers alike- from sun starved European winters. The waves and experience beats our African surf destination competitor hands down We all surf because we love the ocean and the camaraderie that surfing gives us locally and globally. As much as everyone wants uncrowded waves, it is a massive draw card for tourism, and a driver of positive personal development and social inclusion for all as a community. On occasion I read a comment that in my opinion is very intolerant and off base - and I shake my head wondering why. Then the comments back sometimes deteriorate. Is this how we want to portray ourselves to the world. In the water if someone makes a mistake kindly remind them of the surfing rules. I heard of a French man that got assaulted for waveski surfing a crowded peninsula surfspot - hospitalized. A person could be psychologically damaged by such an experience and nobody wants to be at the receiving end of this - imagine saving for and looking forward to a surf trip to beautiful France, and that happens. On the fortunate few times that I surf travel, the hospitality is legendary. Everyone loves it here. Long may it be so! Surfing well and a positive friendly demeanor is aging gracefully and earns respect. On occasion everyone has off days, and let the ocean be a place we can all recharge. We must all try our best to not be the grumpy sunburned wave rider that snaps at people - that is not fun for anyone - but make each others days better by sharing the stoke all round. Paddle and miss the wave, call the next person into it. Share. Trying as many different waves as possible is awesome, and with this mindset localism does not make sense, it can be seen as the person is unhappy that they do not get to try a big enough variety of waves. One day you may be travelling and that may be you excitedly paddling out to an epic break, and a hello in return and sharing at least one good wave is always appreciated the world over. It goes full circle, regardless of ability. When surf coaching I always ask learners to remember the rules, pick up trash, always remember to have fun, appreciate being in paradise with some of the worlds best waves, the most biodiverse marine and terrestrial ecosystems and a rich cultural ecology. The waves are a bonus - Aloha and stay awesome!

If you totally depend on only the information on this site and you blame the editor who does his best to offer us some guidance toward achieving whatever level of stoke that can be had wherever there may be some then please remember - think for yourself, use other sources, know that predicting weather and nature's exact conditions isn't easy, even with instruments, surfing is about being independent to some degree...don't react like a spoilt little kid and pollute this site with boring negative comments that show you to be less than you are. If you surf then take note of this, if you are a surfer you didn't need me to tell you, peace, time for my dawnie, you ed, shot

ashiq - what was your first comment about remaining relevant? or constructive as you put it. oh right just another empty statement you heard somewhere.

relevance my friend. a concept lost on you it seems.

also its always humorous the way the aggressor - you with your expletives - end up playing the victim when matched up against a valid and dare i say relevant rationale. im not cross, that emotion you project based on how you feel when up against.. relevant argument. not at all. i am baffled yes. by the limit of your understanding. again in simple terms:

this site provides a commercial service. yes its commercial. i and numerous others have feedback for the owner, not you, not any sheep trying to score points. feedback as to the shortfalls of the commercial service offered. this feedback was not put across rudely. although its just the act of feeding back that raises a red flag to morons it seems. it is put across as a service to the owner who i know and respect. so that he can take the feedback in, effect change and in doing so, you guessed it, remain.. relevant.

geddit? i assume not. no go click the unlike button. or respond with a.. yes yes, relevant retort..

how many comments here are about how your report is never up to date. hardly ever published on time etc? answer: many.

how much is done about it on the site? answer: vokol

all that happens is the minions rant about people posting detraction's and its a free service etc. again - take down every banner and advert and i will not post feedback - yes its feedback - again.

as long as it is a commercial service the editors should listen to their viewers and not the ass kissers who are actually just trolls. and step up their game.

now go ahead goons. hit that dislike button. it only ensures this site grows more and more irrelevant.

there's a difference between constructive criticism and being a *&^#*+*!. now I'm not saying that you are being a *&^#*+*!. but how much of what you said was actually constructive? vokol

Dear tom trom tron 2

Winds are fickle creatures who don't listen to predictions. Why update the prediction after the fact? Deal with the IS-ness.

I love surfing, I love the ocean, I love stoke, I love the sunshine, I love stories of intense breaks and ride and riders, I love community and watching other surfers shred at my local home breaks, I love this page, I love days where I can hang out in boardies at my home breaks and chat to guys who love the ocean as much as I do, much love to the cape's south peninsula locals, only a surfer knows the feeling...

Click the link below Tom2. This was the swell on Saturday afternoon and Sunday. Maybe you didn't heed the prediction about VERY LONG LULLS between sets? There were 17 minute lulls between TEN FOOT sets, and some bigger ones at the deepwater reefs, particularly late afternoon Saturday. Oh and Sunday was EPIC all day. Sublime surf! Sorry you missed out.
