A full moon presided over Clifton 4th Beach on Friday as about 2,000 people gathered to watch an outdoor screening of the Wavescape Film Festival.
Fresh southerly breezes forced the Wavescape Film Festival crew to move the screen against the wall, so it could be secured to the railing. When there is south in the southeaster, gusts get into Clifton. Fortunately, they were not uncomfortable for the crowd who hooted and cheered their way through the prize giveaways and the two films, Leave a Message and Thirty Thousand.
Leave a Message brought high octane energy to proceedings with polished profiles of the hottest women in surfing today, while Thirty Thousand was a soulful change of pace as mellow Aussies travelled the west coast of Africa for 30,000km surfing obscure breaks.
A new WaWa wooden alaia was given away, as well as serveral handguns, while groms in the audience scooped Rip Curl gear. One guy one a new GoPro camera. Pretty BOS girls walked through the crowd handing out free cans of BOS iced tea.
