INDIES SURF SPOTS :: TELESCOPES

This is one of the original Mentawai discoveries and one of the first Mentawai waves to be “published” in a surf magazine. It is the epitome of gorgeous Indo perfection.

When the SW groundswell is running this is a lefthander you don’t want to miss. It starts way up the reef as a fast and sectioning freight train which lures surfers into its jaws and shuts them down without remorse. But once you have found that magic spot on the reef (not so high up!), it is pure enjoyment, with lip smacks, tube rides, extravagant cutbacks and full rail gauges. As the wave horseshoes around the reef it slows down, making it a wave for all, from down the line beginners to pig-dogging experts.
