INDIES SURF SPOTS :: MACCARONIS

When Bernie Baker, the 2001 Op Pro event organizer announced to Andy and Bruce Irons that the final was to be held at Maccas, they were pissed off. Why? Cause they were surfing against Occy and Maccas is Occy’s favorite wave.

How can I describe Maccas? Its almost everyone’s favorite left no matter who you are or how well you surf. The wave starts with a classic dredging tube section and then slows down just enough to offer a never-ending lip.

No other wave on this planet is more suited to top to bottom surfing. Bottom turn WHACK, bottom turn WHACK, bottom turn WHACK. Eight vertical re-entries in a row. Huge superman air, endless pig dog barrel, 20m roof riding floater, Maccas is as close to a liquid skate park as you can get.  It works best at 4-6 foot, one and half times overhead but no bigger and is suited to all makes of surfer.
