This is a right hander is where you
get the thickest, meanest, deepest
barrels. A bit like HT’s crazy half
brother. When it is small it consists
of constantly shifting peaks which
provide fun and ledgy barrels. It only
really turns on when the swell is from
the SW and more than overhead. An
outside reef comes into play and those
who are patient can get huge stand up
barrels right across the reef, with
not a drop of water out of place.
Beware of the end zone and when its
big watch out for rogue sets! It is
not the longest wave in the Mentawais
but it is one of the most intense.
If you are not up to a heavy BV
barrel, there is another easier right
hander called Nipussi further
inside the bay which is a quick 3
minute dingy ride from Bank Vaults. On
most days the surfers will divide
themselves (depending on their level
of skill) between these two waves.
