Hurley’s latest movie The Drifter has been so successful at the Wavescapes Surf Film festival that two extra screenings have been scheduled.

Thursday night had eager crowds packing out the Labia cinema in Orange Street for the 8pm and 9pm shows. Evidently something about Machado’s soulful approach to surfing and his enigmatic quest for self discovery struck deep chords with many a Cape Town surfer.

But the Wavescapes team isn’t complaining and the Hurley guys are smiling. Chris Mason, festival co-director said about the movie, “The Drifter has been resounding success at Wavescapes. It’s been great working with the guys from Hurley, and good to se the public coming through and enjoying themselves. We might need bigger venues if Rob Machado makes another movie next year though!”

There are still three days of the festival left, and plenty of quality movies to be screened. To get info on the extra screenings, and to book tickets for any of the shows at the Labia, phone (021) 424 5927 or call the Wavescapes infoline on 079 0260 669
