SNAPPER ROCKS: A 7:30am start in messy 3-4' surf was called for the women in the Roxy Pro (Round 3) followed by the men's semi-finals of the Quiksilver Pro, which were scheduled to start at 9am Gold Coast time (UTC or GMT + 10hrs or SA time + 8 .... ie 1am).

Six Foot Surf in the Severn River

Hundreds of onlookers and members of the media turned up yesterday to watch and record a cranking six foot wave surging up the River Servern in the UK. The Severn Bore, which surges upstream along the river through Gloucestershire, does so a couple of times a month, but March is generally a big month. The wave was the largest of the year. It reached a height of almost seven foot at the peak. A bore is created by the tide from the ocean flowing into a ever-decreasing channel up a river.
