The Severn Bore, which surges upstream along the river through Gloucestershire, does so a couple of times a month, but March is generally a big month. The wave was the largest of the year. It reached a height of almost seven foot at the peak. A bore is created by the tide from the ocean flowing into a ever-decreasing channel up a river.
