SNAPPER ROCKS: A 7:30am start in messy 3-4' surf was called for the women in the Roxy Pro (Round 3) followed by the men's semi-finals of the Quiksilver Pro, which were scheduled to start at 9am Gold Coast time (UTC or GMT + 10hrs or SA time + 8 .... ie 1am).

The old gave way to the new as Jordy Smith blasted past Kelly Slater in Round Four of the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast today, the first time they have been matched up against each other.

This past weekend saw another South African flying the flag high for his country. Jared Houston from Tableview in Cape Town claimed the bronze at the opening contest of the 2010 IBA world tour, namely the Turbo Pipeline Pro, that was held at the infamous break on the North Shore from the 16th to the 26th of February.
