One of the painted Pottz 80s twin fins at the Wavescape Surfboard Art Exhibition that went live today comes from a collaboration between Tim Cornibear, Claire Homewood and development surfers from the Ticket To Ride Foundation, Masiphumulele. All paint was donated by ProNature, producer of eco-friendly, non-toxic and natural paints. It lies on display at Depasco Cafe, Cape Town, from 1 to 8 December, when it will be auctioned for ocean charity. Click here for more.

The 11 surfboards by 13 artists represent a unique mix of genres and styles in South African art from the weirdly apocalyptic Only the Mystic Duiker can Save Us from What We Have Become by Andy Mason to the cute but cruel piscine iconography of 5000 Leagues by Kim Longhurst, and more besides. More on the auction.

Friday 26 November 2010

The 14 artists involved in the creation of 11 Pottz twin fin surfboards with a difference are an eclectic and yet expansively varied mix of human beings. What does that actually mean? Who knows. Read their bios rather.
