An update from hot young Nick Godfrey, 18, who is in Oz surfing a number of junior events. We will be putting up a couple of blogs now and then to update you on the movement of some of our young surfers on their travels.
Well it has been an absolute jorl so far in Oz, and it has been a good experience from start to finish. Just so stoked that my family let me do my own thing and puzzle this whole travel mission out for myself. It’s a good thing to be able to look after oneself ina foreign country. That’s not to say I haven’t had some help – there have been so many people in Oz who have really been cool and have helped me out heaps along the way – ‘heaps?’ I’m even talking like an Aussie now. Hope I don’t get back to Seals with an accent after a month or so away – some one will probably slap me and tell me to grow up haha. It’s slowly turning away from summer back home, and the South African surfing season comes alive. So amped. Got my contests lined up, got my head in gear, got some good boards and some more on the way from Simon. also, I hear it’s going to be a sick El Nino winter season and the EC is going to go off! Some of the things I miss about South Africa when travelling - 100% Bully Beef

So we’re hanging in a flat here down under – myself, Shaun, Dale and Chad. Not too much in the way of Internet connection, but we having a good time of it all. We got some wheels, loads of cool people, cooking some sick food, and there are good sandbanks – all we really need. Not sure what the plan is ongoing, but for now it’s time to surf these cooking waves on the Goldie. Waves in my back yard, a million miles from Oz.

Well I made it to the round of 16 at the Couran Cove event. Not bad, not nearly as good as I would have liked to have gone, but not too bad. The waves came up a bit which is good. The sand at the Superbank has been a little scarce recently, what with the storms washing and scouring the coastline up this part of the world, but they have to get the banks good for the Quikkie Pro which is coming up soon. Snapper Rocks is coming back for the Quiksilver Pro© ASP. So the pumping has started again. Millions of tonnes of sand being pumped up from Tweed into the line-up. Should be getting some sick waves soon. I’ve still got a few contests to go, and haven’t decided on Tazzie or Margarets yet. Both sick events so I’ll check it out as we go along, see what the rest of the boys are doing.
